Nepheline syenite is a quartz-free aluminum silicate. It is mainly composed of nepheline, microcline and albite. Due to its extremely low melting point and high alumina content, nepheline syenite is used as a flux in ceramics, to lower the melting temperature in glass and as a functional filler in coatings and polymers.
